We arrived in Yuma Feb 15. We stayed at Coccopah RV Resort, a total of six weeks. Many people from different parts of Canada are here. One of the highlights of our stay here was their annual Coccopah Dog Parade. Cindi and Jasmine were not interesting in dressing up and participating but did socialize with some of the other dogs. Some of the costumes were funny to see. David is sitting with his favorite dog who had been shaved like a lion.
Into Mexico
Our passports had arrived a week earlier. From the blog sites we read other rv'er.s said it was safe to enter Mexico from this area. We drove to Algodones which is a little border town with entry point into Mexico, about 30 min away. There was border parking along the road for a small fee. We decided to park and walk into Mexico. First thing you see is Med/Dental/Pharmacy building lined along the streets. We were told of a dental office that was reasonable and did good work. We found the office walked in without an appointment and within 20 min the kids were getting there teeth cleaned and I was been prepped for a crown. The cost was less than half of what you would pay in the U.S. and quality of work was outstanding. Afterwords we walked along the streets looking at the many things the vendors had for sale. We had lunch at a little Mexican restaurant off the beaten path. The line going back into the U.S. a bit longer. Guards with guns checking the vehicles coming back across the border. We did not have any problems getting back in.
CA Sand Dunes
We drove to the Imperial Sand Dunes in California. It's a 45 min drive from where we were staying. One big playground for grownups with 4-wheelers and ATV's. The weather was a cool 75 in the desert. We all took our shoes off and went walking in the sand while watching the races in the desert.
